PRP is Platelet Rich Plasma and PRFM is Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix.
What is PRP?
Platelet is derived from whole blood, centrifuged to remove red blood cells. PRP is prepared by taking blood from the person, and then putting it through two stages of centrifugation designed to separate PRP from platelet-poor plasma and red blood cells.
PRP stimulate collagen and elastic tissue production which thickens and tightens, the skin effectively smoothening wrinkles and fine lines. Because it boost collagen, it is also a good treatment for improving overall skin texture and tone.
PRP treatment can enhance hair restoration and other cosmetic surgery procedures. The platelets, one type of blood cells, contain growth factors that can trigger cell proliferation, speed healing and stimulate tissue regeneration in the treated area.
What is PRFM
Activated PRP is called PRFM. The body concentrates calcium higher in the tissue than in the blood. When tissue becomes damaged, the calcium that was in the tissue leaks out into the blood. Then that calcium activates thrombin cascade, which is simply a chain reaction of chemical events that happen when the platelets are exposed to calcium. When the platelets are exposed to calcium immediate release of growth factors takes place. The same principle applies when calcium is added to PRP in the lab which is activated to Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix.
